in wake of Enron
The West Virginia Roundtable has endorsed a set of core principles announced
by The Business Roundtable (BRT), the national roundtable association
in Washington, D.C. The principles were set forth by BRT to help public
companies meet their corporate governance responsibilities more effectively.
Dana E. Waldo, President and CEO of the West Virginia Roundtable, said
the endorsement of the best practices guidelines is critical because the
Enron collapse has prompted the public and investors to seek out more
information about American public companies and how they operate. BRT
President John J. Castellani said the goals of the recommendations included
bolstering the current system and increasing faith in America's corporations.

A Vision Shared plan
The West Virginia Roundtable was one of 16 business and economic development
associations and organizations to unite on January 9 to advocate accelerated
and aggressive action to implement the state's A Vision Shared
economic development plan. Business leaders from across the state packed
a ballroom at the Charleston Marriott on the morning of the opening day
of the 2002 West Virginia Legislature as a call to action to encourage
the state's policy-makers, economic development stakeholders and citizens
to support the plan and help it move forward.

Virginia Roundtable endorses appointment of Satterfield to head Development
Office
The West Virginia Roundtable has announced its support of David Satterfield's
appointment to Executive Director of the West Virginia Development Office.
The endorsement came the same day as the public announcement of the appointment.
Roundtable President and CEO Dana E. Waldo said Satterfield's leadership
abilities will help move the state forward. He also emphasized that the
Roundtable has confidence Satterfield's efforts will help advance West
Virginia: A Vision Shared!, the economic development plan developed by

West Virginia Roundtable endorses formation of Sunny Day Fund for statewide
economic development
The West Virginia Roundtable has voted to endorse the formation of a "Sunny
Day Fund" in an effort to bolster economic development in the state.
The Roundtable Board of Directors voted unanimously to support the measure
at a meeting during the first day of the 2001 West Virginia Business Summit.
While a bill to establish the fund did not pass as part of Governor Bob
Wise's 2001 legislative package, Wise said the Roundtable's endorsement
is critical in helping to make the fund a reality.
